Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach Hits 50th Anniversary

The Race Remains an Iconic Celebration of Motorsports Culture
Beginning on April 11th, the 50th annual Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach celebrated the speed and precision of Southern California’s racing culture. For the 10th year running, it was sponsored by the Banc of California.
The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is one of the most iconic races in the United States. It’s North America’s longest-running major street circuit race and draws hundreds of thousands.
Running from April 11 – 13, the famous race is a truly monumental occasion. The high-speed spectacle has everything you could want in a race weekend, from Indy 500 race cars to top sports cars, trucks, and Acura service.
Event Hosted by Grand Prix Association of Long Beach
The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is hosted by the appropriately named Grand Prix Association of Long Beach. The same company also owns GPALM Special Events, allowing a convenient partnership for event operation management.
Excitement was in the air leading up to the three-day festival’s kick-off on Friday. The community event creates 700 jobs in the area and has generated over $4.2 million for Southern California charities.
The Grand Prix Association of Long Beach has received sponsorship for its event from the Banc of California for the past 10 years. The President and CEO, Jim Michaelian, indicates that the Banc of California’s long-standing support lends prestige to the event and helps to make it possible.
The Track for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach
The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach track is 1.968 miles long and features 11 turns. The street circuit circles the Long Beach Convention Center and runs down Shoreline Drive.
The track for the race is uniquely exciting, offering opportunities for drivers to overtake around hairpin turns, and viewers describe the race as one of the most exciting around.
Additional Events at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach
The race is the most important event at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, but there are many other things to do at the festival. Families will appreciate the Family Fun Zone, and visitors of all ages will love the food trucks, concerts, and car shows.
There’s also a Lifestyle Expo & Green Power Prix occurring on the grounds that features over 100 displays related to the automotive world, recreation, travel, and entertainment.
Participate in Next Year’s Grand Prix 5K
Most people cannot race in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. However, many of them can take the opportunity to participate in the Grand Prix 5k, held the weekend before the race.
