The 2025 Nissan Armada Gets a Redesign and Pro 4X Trim
The Nissan Armada is one of several full-size SUVs on the market getting a redesign or refresh for the 2025 model year, making it better than ever.
This time around the Armada will get a new Pro 4X trim and the only engine is now a twin-turbo V6. Let’s take a look at what’s changed in the 2024 Nissan Armada.
Basics Remain the Same
When the Nissan Armada hits your Nissan dealer, it will look a little different, but the basics are the same. It’s still a body-on-frame full-size SUV with independent suspension, but the latter now offers an optional adaptive air suspension on the Platinum Reserve and Pro 4X trims. The maximum towing capacity also stays the same at 8,500 pounds. Both RWD and 4WD layouts are available. The biggest change is that the V8 engine is gone and only a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 is available. That engine makes a healthy 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
New Pro 4X Model
The biggest news for the new Nissan Armada is the addition of a Pro 4X trim. With the adaptive air suspension, the Pro 4X boasts 9.6 inches of ground clearance. It also features several off-road upgrades like recovery hooks, metal skid plates, all-terrain tires with 20-inch wheels, and hill descent control.
Off-road enthusiasts will also be happy to know that this version of the Nissan Armada features a real locking rear differential. The Armada Pro 4X enjoys some visual changes as well, including a new front fascia and a three-slot grille currently found on the Frontier and Pathfinder.
Nissan Armada Styling Changes
Another noticeable change for the Nissan Armada is the refreshed styling. The big SUV is more boxy than before with a longer hood and taller nose. The grille is very different from before, losing the long-lived V-Motion grille for a unique look depending on the trim. The double-bar grille is a throwback to the second-generation Patrol model. Various other tributes to that model are scattered around the Armada.
Not many buyers in the USA realize that the Nissan Patrol was the original inspiration for the Armada. That hardcore off-road model has been sold in other markets since 1951, but it was briefly sold in the U.S. at Datsun dealerships between 1962 and 1969.
Significant Interior Redesign
The Nissan Armada’s interior is arguably even more modified than the exterior. It now has a pair of 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instruments on most models. The higher trims upgrade to 14.3-inch screens. The dash has a cleaner look to support the screens. However, the Armada still features several physical buttons and switches. Base Armada models sport leatherette upholstery, while higher trims like the Pro 4X and Platinum get real leather.
When To Expect the New Nissan Armada
When can you expect to see the new Nissan Armada at your Nissan dealer? It’s not known yet as neither pricing nor availability has been announced. The incoming model will likely experience a price jump since the Infiniti QX80 has already announced that.
