Jeep Wagoneer S: Combining Off-Road DNA With EV Power

The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S is the first all-electric vehicle wearing the Jeep brand name. Is it the EV that you want to drive?

The Wagoneer name returned to the market a few years ago in the form of a high-end luxury SUV that put others to shame. This was especially true in the Grand Wagoneer version, which wasn’t larger than the Wagoneer, but simply increased the luxury levels of equipment and driving to make for a much more impressive experience for owners. Now, there’s an all-electric version of this SUV that brings power and easy electric driving to the market.

Do you want a quick SUV?

Electric vehicles are much quicker than traditional gas and diesel-powered models, which is evident in this new Wagoneer S model. It has 600 horsepower and instant torque, which is enough to rocket the AWD EV to 60 MPH in only 3.4 seconds. This is a quick and impressive vehicle that can get you out in front of traffic in a hurry. You can also show off how fast the Wagoneer S reaches 60 MPH on an open stretch of road, but there’s a lot more to this new electric SUV than its sprint time.

How big is the Wagoneer S?

In terms of size, the new Jeep Wagoneer S is about the same size as a standard Grand Cherokee. That makes it the smallest SUV in the Jeep lineup to wear the Wagoneer name. This also means the seating is limited to five passengers, which makes sense, and it has 30 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats. That is plenty of room for your gear, making it easy to get out on the road or trails to enjoy an adventure to one of your favorite destinations.

The Launch Edition continues

The Wagoneer S isn’t brand-new for 2025; it was offered in 2024 with the Launch Edition to celebrate this electric SUV entering the market. This version of the electric SUV continues for 2025, giving you a premium McIntosh audio system, massaging seats with premium upholstery, unique 20-inch wheels, and a blacked-out illuminated seven-slot grille. A new limited trim has been added to the mix to give you another option for 2025. The Limited trim is a little more affordable than the Launch Edition model of Jeep’s first electric SUV.

Plenty of power for a great drive

The Jeep Wagoneer S has two electric motors driving each of the two axles. These electric motors produce a combined output of 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque for the Launch Edition. This is the more powerful version with the Limited trim producing 500 horsepower.
If you want to head out on the trails for some fun in the wilderness, this electric Jeep has the brand’s signature Selec-Terrain traction management system, which has five driving modes for various terrain. The driving modes are Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow, and Sand, which ensure you can tackle some trails and enjoy a great drive in this electric SUV.

Towing and driving range

If you use the new electric Wagoneer S to tow a trailer, it’s limited to 3,500 pounds, which is much less than most other Jeep SUVs, including the Grand Cherokee, which can pull up to 6,200 pounds. Still, it matches the tow rating of the Chevrolet Blazer EV RS.
The driving range is listed at 294 miles, which might seem a little low. This is especially true when you consider the batteries need to be recharged at a DC fast-charging station at 20 percent and only charge to 80 percent. This means that only 60 percent of the actual driving range is useful when you depend on fast chargers for your fuel. In actual numbers, this means you have to recharge the Jeep Wagoneer S every 175 miles during a road trip. Thankfully, the charging time only takes 23 minutes at a fast charger.

Smaller but designed similarly

The Wagoneer S is much smaller than the gas-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models that it shares its name with. Thankfully, many of the design cues from the larger models are found in this electric SUV. You’ll have a flat-bottom twin-spoke steering wheel with red accent stitching, heated and cooled seats for the front and rear, faux-leather upholstery, and decorative metal appliques around the cabin.

Roominess in this Jeep

The Jeep Wagoneer S is similar in size to the Grand Cherokee, and that means the front legroom matches at 41.3 inches. The second row is tighter in the electric SUV, measuring 30 inches compared to the 31.8 inches in the Grand Cherokee. In terms of storage, you have 30 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which expands to 61 cubes when the seats are folded. There’s also a three-cubic-foot frunk for some storage under the hood space.

Screens across the dash

There are three screens across the dashboard, which is becoming standard in modern EVs, and a 10-inch head-up display that’s also standard. You can choose from 64colors for the ambient illumination in the cabin, giving you the color scheme you want to enjoy.
Could the new Jeep Wagoneer S be the electric SUV that you want to drive and enjoy every day? This SUV has a high quality cabin and impressive power from the electric motors but fall short in terms of driving range and towing capacity.
