2024 Lexus GX: Rugged Luxury and Off-Road Prowess

The 2024 Lexus GX ushers in a brand-new generation for this venerable Lexus SUV. The previous model began in 2010, making its replacement long overdue.

The midsize luxury SUV that handles the off-road trailer like a champ is the GX. This impressive vehicle has a rugged exterior style and stunning appearance to be a great choice when you want an impressive model to drive. For 2024, Lexus replaced the outdated V8 engine with a new turbo V6 and gave the GX a new interior packed with tech, comfort, and style.

Let’s see what the Lexus GX brings to your driving experience.

Is anything new for this Lexus?

As the GX heads into a new generation, nearly everything about this SUV is new, but that doesn’t mean it moves away from what’s made it a huge success. The new powertrain brings a twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an impressive 10-speed automatic transmission to give you plenty of power. Lexus also added new trims called Overtrail and Overtrail+, which elevate the off-road prowess owners can enjoy.

The same powertrain for every GX

Regardless of trim, the Lexus GX features a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This gives you more power than the outgoing V8 engine, which seems to be a theme for Lexus and Toyota. The power generated by this new system is 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This gives the GX up to 8,000 pounds of towing capacity and full-time 4WD.
