Powertrain differences for the S5

Both versions of this Audi sports sedan/sportback utilize the same powertrain setup with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine under the hood. Models built on the current platform will continue to deliver 349 horsepower to the wheels through a conventional 8-speed automatic transmission. The new platform S5 is tuned a little higher to deliver 362 horsepower to make driving a little more exciting and fun. Regardless of the version chosen, you’ll have AWD and plenty of control when you want to toss this car through the twists and turns of a canyon run.

Goodbye S4

As Audi moves into the new generation of its vehicles, some models will be left behind. The S4 and S5 are built on the same platform, and the coin toss landed in favor of the S5. This sporty car is also being reduced to one body style, with the coupe and convertible models gone from the lineup. This allows the new S5 to be a more focused car with plenty of power and performance features to be a lot of fun to drive on the road or on the track.
